HC Original Deals

At Shift we wanted to take the hassle and guess work out of getting a HC truck licence so we came up with our original HC deals, there are two options to choose from.

Option 1 - $1095

This deal gives you 7 hours training and the practical driving test. You can use either the International 7600 18 speed road ranger, or the Iveco Powestar Auto prime mover.

We recommend this option if you are already driving a HC and/or are familiar with the coupling and uncoupling procedures of a trailer.

This option is best:

• If you have a HR open licence, or
• If you are currently driving a HC vehicle

Upon a successful assessment result you will be issued with a HC (B) condition or HC Open licence depending on what truck you choose.

• One day courses are not recommended for the HC licence.
• Packages do not include any TMR fees

Option 2 - $1295 (Road Ranger Drivers Deal)

This deal gives you 9 hours training and the practical driving test, with a choice of trucks to use - our International 7600 or the Cat CT630. Both trucks are fitted with an 18 speed road ranger. First 2 hours will be prime mover only, then onto the trailer for the remaining lessons.

This option is best:

• If you have a MR / HR / HC B Condition licence and want to upgrade to a road ranger.

Upon a successful assessment result you will be issued with a HC Open licence - with no restrictions.

• One day courses are not recommended for the HC licence.
• Packages do not include any TMR fees

Option 3 - $1495

To get the most out of your training were giving you 10 hours training and the practical driving test, once again you can choose an 18 speed road ranger, or an auto.

This option is best:

• If you have an MR or HR B Condition licence and want to learn in a road ranger

Upon a successful assessment result you will be issued with a HC (B) condition or HC Open licence depending on what truck you choose.

• Packages do not include any TMR fees

What can I drive on my HC Licence?

You are permitted to drive a heavy vehicle up to a prime mover to which is attached a single semi-trailer plus any unladen converter dolly, or a rigid motor vehicle attached to a trailer that has a gross vehicle mass greater than 9 tonnes plus any unladen converter dolly.

Your HC training will include some key points such as:

• Reverse trailer in a straight line, reverse trailer in a left and right direction
• Uncouple and re-couple trailer
• Trailer care and maintenance and
• Highway and city driving
